My organization has been using troff for many years, but we just purchased 6 Sun SPARCstation 1+ machines and I am going to be evaluating Framemaker and Interleaf as a possible replacement for troff. Besides the ease-of-use issue, which I will determine by trying the products myself, I am trying to find out if there is a way to convert either Framemaker or Interleaf documents to troff format and vice-versa. Converting to troff would allow us at Bell Labs to submit our documents to the library network electronically, and converting from troff would allow someone with a Sun to view a document that was written by someone without a Sun. If anybody has information about this, please send me mail. Also, if there is a product other than Framemaker or Interleaf that I should be looking at for the SPARCstation, let me know.
