I need some help typesetting partitioned matrices in latex. Consider the following: $$ R = \left( \begin{array}{c|c} A & B \\ \hline C & D \\ \end{array} \right) $$ In the above A, B, C, D are the partitions of R. The partitioning is being shown by solid lines (\hline and |). My advisor wants them to be real partitioning symbols, i.e., a thin, dashed line. Have you used these? If so, may be you can help me. I didn't find anything in LaTeX manual. Browsing through TeXBook I haven't found anything so far.
