Message-ID: <1990Nov5.234701.16002@en.ecn.purdue.edu> Date: 5 Nov 90 23:47:01 GMT Organization: Purdue University Engineering Computer Network Lines: 23 I run a mail server that is used by many different people using many different computer setups. The files I send out are usually uuencoded, compressed, and somtimes tar'ed. Of course I get lots of mail from users on PC's or running VMS, etc... asking how to extract the files. Before I go to the trouble, do anyone have a files explaining how to extract those formats on different platforms and perhaps know where to get the software needed? I would like to send a standard file instead of help each person with the same problem. If I had a uudecode.exe on my server for MS-DOS, how would I mail it to someone? I would guess I would have to tell them to go find it and them I can get them the rest of the tools needed. Thanks for any help, -- _______________________________________________________________________________ Wayne Scott | INTERNET: wscott@ecn.purdue.edu Electrical Engineering | BITNET: wscott%ecn.purdue.edu@purccvm Purdue University | UUCP: {purdue, pur-ee}!ecn.purdue.edu!wscott
