Summary: Can a monitor image be projected onto a large screen or wall? Keywords: Monitor, lens, projection Message-ID: <1990Nov7.060323.4482@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu> Date: 7 Nov 90 06:03:23 GMT Distribution: sci Organization: Engineering Computer Network, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK Lines: 28 This isn't strictly "electronics" but this newsgroup seems to fit the subject best... A while ago in misc.forsale I noticed an ad for a gizmo that would project the image from an ordinary television screen onto a large screen or a wall, thus getting a "big screen" TV effect for little cost. I didn't purchase it, but the idea has intrigued me. What I would like to do is somehow project the image from my computer monitor onto the wall or ceiling; for instance, I have written a 3-d moving starfield routine for my PC which would look absolutely stunning if projected onto a huge wall or ceiling. Also many screen saver programs have quite interesting visual displays that would be impressive on a large scale. What's needed to do such screen projection? I was thinking that a simple assembly such as that used for overhead projectors might be sufficient; i.e. simply a lens (or 2 lenses and a mirror to deflect 90 degrees) to refocus and project the image onto a wall or ceiling. Would this alone be enough? Would the monitor's own brightness provide sufficient light to project a visible image? I've no experience with this sort of lens assembly, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- \ /\/\ /\/\ +-----------------------------+ /\/\ /\/\ /./ \\ /./\\\ /./\\\ /====|Norman Lin/norlin@129.15.20.2|===/./\\\ /./\\\ /./ \\\/./ \\\/./ \\\/./===| norlin@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu|====/ \\\/./ \\\/./ \/\/ \/\/ \/\/ +-----------------------------+ \/\/ \/\/
