Has anyone got a look at Steve Harnad's article (via ftp) called "Otherminds"? I haven't had time to read it all, but he says in the beginning that Searle shows that using the Chinese room, it is possible to pass the Turing test undetected. Now it seemed that everyone had something to say against Searle. So I ask, could Searle's thought experiment pass the Turing test? Has anyone ever tried to do an experiment like this using actual people? -- "Weapon systems are L[+]CKED on you, Johnny-cake..." $anjay $ingh Provost-Hunter ssingh@watserv1.[u]waterloo.{edu|cdn}/[ca] jwwong@a-provost: "I Come In Peace." ssingh@watserv1: "You Go In Pieces."
