It knows how to get past corrupt spots on an archive and resynchronize itself, where many cpio implementations give up or even crash. It also has lots of tape-handling options, including one for doing multi- volume backups on tape drives that don't generate proper notice for end-of-tape. Overall, I recommend it highly. It's available from UUNET and certainly elsewhere. -- Mark McWiggins Integration Technologies, Inc.
