Message-ID: <1990Nov15.005527.708@xrtll.uucp> Date: 15 Nov 90 00:55:27 GMT Sender: rsnider@xrtll.uucp (Richard Snider) Organization: ISOTECH Computer Industries - Toronto, Canada Lines: 25 First off, can anyone out there tell me what protocol an AS/400 uses when you get the Ethernet Lan Option from IBM ?? I do not have the manuals handy, but if someone could tell me if they support TCP/IP (with whatever software if needed) then I could get on to my second question. My second question is right now, we have got a Novell lan running around with 1 fileserver and 2 lan cards plugged into it. This gives us 2 separate Novell lans that go to different places. Now we have pluged the AS/400 into this, so that using some terminal support package on the PCs we can use the AS/400. The problem is that the Novell filesever won't pass the packets across to the other lan that came from the AS/400, so all the users on the "other" lan, can't talk to the AS/400. We can't just plug the lans together, otherwise we get traffic problems, so the idea was to put a router between them to shuttle the AS/400 packets across. Does anyone think this won't work ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated... ......Rich ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Where: ..uunet!mnetor!yunexus!xrtll!rsnider Also: rsnider@xrtll.UUCP An unbreakable tool is useful for breaking other tools.
