Pk., MD 20742 Lines: 19 Could someone please e-mail me information regarding what currently-available LANs have the highest effective throughput rate? (I would really like something on the order of 100Mbyte/sec.) For a paper I am doing, I am proposing an architecture for vision processing. Many processors will want access to digital video data from a couple of CCDs, and I calculate that a single-bus (or ring) design would require about 100Mbyte/sec of effective throughput. Are there any LANs that can do this? Especially in a collision-free manner? Also, the LAN should be rugged and compact, and should not require bulky interfaces (to fit into a vehicle). (If I cannot find what I want off-the-shelf, then we have to look at other architectures, such as multiple-bus...) Thank you. -- Wayne Folta (folta@cs.umd.edu 128.8.128.8)
