Symptoms include carrier dropping soon after connection, and connections dropping after a little while. I suspect noisy telephone circuits. However, how do I prove that my lines are clean without paying $$$ to the telephone company? I've even dropped a new line right from the junction box on the outside wall to the modem with no better results. Does the telco have a way to test the phone lines compatibility with a modem? E.g. a tone sweep or measurement while my modem is on-line? Any ideas? Jeff jeffg@sgi.com
