Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me. The majority opinion of responses was that every PhD is a part time endeavor in many respects. The typical candidate is expected to participate in a group research project part of the time, to teach as an assistant or aide part time, and to conduct research for his/her own project part time. Many times a student in an official PhD program will be allowed to work in industry during the program. This flexibility is dependent on the school and instructors policies and attitudes. I must mention some few responses were against part time PhD, citing the requirements of emersion and urgency to complete a project while it has validity and to conduct an adequate accomplishment. There were also the following programs for part time that may be an official program for investigation: 1.DEAKIN UNIVERSITY , IN ENGLAND 2.UC SANTA CRUZ , CALIFORNIA 3.UC LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA 4.UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA , TAMPA 5.RUTGERS UNIVERSITY , NEW JERSEY 6.De PAUL UNIVERSITY , CHICAGO 7.FLORIDA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY , MELBOURNE FLORIDA 8.NYU 9.STANFORD UNIVERSITY, CALIFORNIA -RESTRICTED TO HONORS COOP (SITN SAYS YES ; DEPARTMENT SAYS NO) My choice has been made and I thank you again for helping me. I hope this will help someone else. These are not all confirmed with the schools. Good luck to those also looking. My employer has asked to be disassociated from my comments.
