The problem is that when x-win.el is run the window-system-version variable is set to nil despite x_term_init *and* init_display setting it to 11. I have proved they do this with some printf's in the code: x_term_init () ... Setting window-system-version to 11 in x_term_init ... x_term_init () Setting window-system-version to 11 in dispnew.c:init_display What is going wrong?
