The captured video is 640 by 480 32 bit RGBA. It can record and play back in realtime from the harddisk, doing JPEG video compression along the way. You can do video editing in software without any loss of video quality due to copying and recopying the video signal. As far as the quality of the video out, i haven't seen anything produced by it. It does have S-vhs video out in addition to a normal composite signal. I doubt that the quality is poor, mainly because my general impression of the machine is that the hardware that supports the video is excellent. Anyway, if anyone get's the chance to see a demo of the Next Dimension machine, check it out.
