Has anybody seen/heard of a system which could build/read/collect dimensional information from raster images. I appreciate a scale would have to be used as a starting point (a known dimension in the image), but from here it should be possible to calculate other dimensions (in 3D). Similar systems exist for digitizing photographs, so why not scanned images (either still or video). Just a thought. Anybody know anything about this area at all.
