Lists and trees are mental structures >gudeman> that humans use to visualize things. An associate of mine pointed out that we have spend the last several species navigating through trees, with a high survival value to being able to do so efficiently and without falling. It seems entirely possible to me (IMHO) that trees are indeed elementary mental structures for most humans. After all, we've only spend the last few thousand years manipulating symbols formally. 1/2 :-) -- Darren -- --- Darren New --- Grad Student --- CIS --- Univ. of Delaware --- ----- Network Protocols, Graphics, Programming Languages, Formal Description Techniques (esp.
