After putting in the root file system disk and hitting '=' the system tweaked with a message like Kernel Panic.... Wincester drive not responding cannot read Hard drive file allocation table.. (or something like that..) I know I would have to re-compile the source code to fix this problem, but I want to know which driver I should use, xt_wini.c, or some other driver that someone else may have already written. If anyone else has come across this problem I would be glad if they could send me source or diff files so I can get this thing running. (I was impressed that MINIX ran on a Zenith Z-158 myself, so it can't be too hard to make it run on my machine.) I was also wondering if someone could maybe send a little document- ation or suggestions about recompiling the kernel. Since I don't wan't to make this into a two week crash course in the MINIX. I am planning on upgrading to 1.5, but want to make sure that it will run on my machine before spending $170 (you know the poor college student thing.). Another thing I was wondering about is the transfer of files into the MINIX operating system from DOS. I was playing around with dosread, dosdir, and doswrite, and can't seem to get them to work. I haven't had time to look at the sources yet, and any help with these would also be greatly appreciated.
