I hope someone has done this before, and knows what I'm doing
wrong: here goes...

everything compiled fine.

everything installed fine, except for tftp, which I was told I shouldn't
   worry about.

trying to get things to run:
 - kerberos starts fine
 - kadmind runs fine
 - kdb_init, kdb_edit work fine
>> kpasswd and kinit don't work at all:  whenever it tries to do a
   send_to_kdc, it seg faults...
>> kadmin says: kadm error for realm BROWN.EDU: Administrating host is unknown.

However, I do have a /etc/krb.conf that has:
BROWN.EDU
BROWN.EDU hermes.cis.brown.edu admin server
BROWN.EDU hermes.cis.brown.edu

and this is running on hermes.cis.brown.edu....

any clues?
