We are implementing named >here and I have been contemplating this. Only reason I know of is One reason are sites with many types of hosts (like mine). Most machines have DNS software, however some don't. It would be a work saver if I could just update the DNS files and generate an appropriate /etc/hosts for the dumb machines. -Jon
