Where are you getting your ``install'' program? The one that comes with AFS has exactly the property you describe: it creates subdirectories that are unexpected by the Andrew installation mechanism, but that are important for installing AFS. I believe that it accepts the ``-f'' command-line option, though, to treat the final target as a file name rather than as a directory name. My recommendation would be to use the ``install'' program that comes with the Andrew distribution. Craig
