I'm not sure this has been suggested to you yet, but make sure you set
SeparateDirs = NO in your SID.config file.  I have been reliably using
SID on my 3000 w/2.02 for a few days now with no problems.  I don't use
ANY of the buttons (VOL, DF0, DH0, RAM, etc.).  I type directly into the box
above the directory.
