For those of you who don't know (and care) HDF is a file format for storing scientific data sets and images. The purpose of the format is to allow easy exchange of scientific data in a consistent format. The data is then portable across different machine types (as I understand it). The code is pretty much generic C and I haven't had to change much of it. There are a few bugs (well, one that I know of) that have shown up that I have not been able to resolve. This is probably due to my meager knowledge of C in general and the SAS compiler specifically. If you are interested in this, please reply to gerber@rigel.astro.uiuc.edu. I will gladly make the source available and just as eagerly accept any help. (The source is available from NCSA anyway, but not with the few changes I had to make to get it to compile with SAS C 5.10 :-) Thank, Richard Gerber Physics Graduate Student University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gerber@rigel.astro.uiuc.edu
