Permanently. | |Suppose the Mac were frozen at the Plus. This is the logical equivalent of the |ROM03. | |No colour, not even gray scale. This puts a crimp in colour processing, |regardless of resolution. | |No Virtual Memory. Ever. | |System7, if it ever gets released, will run but more memory is needed. I would |say a fully populated 4Meg would work and is required for Multifinder. | |Compare this to the GS. Colour (not square pixels though), speed (accelerators |are much easier to add), expansion (how many slots in a Plus?), DMA SCSI (and |it is OS supported), sound (best available), Virtual memory (theoretical at |this point), Truetype (also theoretical). | |The GS beats the Plus across the board except in DTP, but even this is |possible, if painful, with a Postscript printer. | |The fact is though that Mac development was not stopped at the Plus, two new |Macs are released every year, usually bigger than the ones before. Whose fault |is it that the GS has not been improved? Not mine. Not yours. Not the GS's |architecture certainly. | |Given a GS there is no need to wrap a Mac around a IIe, it's already there, |and this gives you most of what a Mac is for the target market, home and |education. | |Eric McGillicuddy |Apple II Evangelist I wish I said that!!! :) >APPLAUDS< You know the SE got VRAMs... sped it up a bit 10-20%... GS could do well with some VRAMs.
