First thanks to George W Dinolt (dinolt%wdl45@wdl1.wdl.fac.com) for providing me with specs of the ST's monitor output, and thanks for these people for providing it through the grapevine: Harri Valkama LAKE, Lea Viljanen , and ldp.dec.com!weaver@decwrl.dec.com (Dave, DTN 297-7141, MRO2-4/E33). Atari low medium high ------- ------- ------- Horizontal Frequency: 15.8kHz 31.5kHz 35.7kHz Vertical Frequency: 60Hz 60Hz 71.2kHz Horizontal Resolution: 320 640 640 Vertical Resolution: 200 200 400 I called one place (Lyco) and asked for the vertical frequency of the monitor. They said it was 50 to 90, which should work with the ST. Then they said the horizontal was 30 to 37. This looked a little strange, so I called another place (Harmony Computers in NY) and asked the same questions. They replied the same. Which means, if I'm not mistaken, that there would be something wrong with the ST's low resolution, since it's lower than 30. If anyone can find something wrong with my assumptions or data, PLEASE let me know. I also asked about the frequency bandwidth, which Talon recommends should be 35Mhz or better, and neither of the places knew what it was on the Panasync. Talon also recommends that the vertical auto-sync be 15 - 36Khz or better and the horizontal auto-sync be 45 - 90Khz or better. This puts a real damper on things. At least I know this BEFORE buying the monitor. (Howard Chu, what was the horizonal frequency on your monitor again?) -- Ed Krimen ............................................... ||| Video Production Major, California State University, Chico ||| INTERNET: ekrimen@ecst.csuchico.edu FREENET: al661 / | \ SysOp, Fuji BBS: 916-894-1261 FIDONET: 1:119/4.0
