If I then try running disk doctor, I get a range of problems, mainly along the lines of the allocation bitmap needing attention, or problems with the directory. In both cases the disk doctor claims to mend them OK. So I run speed-disk, the same thing happens, and the same problem is back again . . . Any ideas? The same speed-disk works fine on other machines. My HD20 has about 1 mbyte free, is 5% fragmented, and there are no funny INITs or special configurations. Thanks in advance, Trevor Harley psrds@cu.warwick.ac.uk
