I should have inserted your article here, but it seemed to be miles long...

Well, As usual I don't have the documents handy but I remember reading some 
Tech Note just about the thing that you want to know about.
The Tech Note said that is was OK to put in SICN's in menus as long as you
don't put them in the Apple menu! (Am I right here? Hope so).

So one solution to your problem is to move the SICN from your Apple menu
to some other menu.
