I will describe what I need would very like to receive suggestions as to how to do it (pref in a cookbook form) What we have is a hierarchy of three levels: 1) A faculty server 2) Departmental servers 3) Workstations (Owned by individual users). What I want to do is to enable users to use (in addition to the disk of their own of course) disk space from both the departmental server (of their department only) faculty server. Also, since users may have to login to one of the servers (some products may run only on the servers... licensing matters, you know...) I want the directory they have on that server to appear as their home directory, and thus my problem is to build the password file in a way that the the username and uid will be the same on different machines, but the home path will differ, depending on which machine the user is on. I would also like to disable users logging into any other departmental server then their own. Thanks in advance
