Well, I did this, up to a point. I downloaded everything but the fonts. The advice was less helpful regarding the fonts. I am still in a fog regarding fonts. I have decided to pay the upgrade price for PCTeX. At least this way, I can identify someone at the other end whom to choke when I have problems. My situation is this: In 2 weeks, I am going to work for a company with no TeX or UNIX experience. I will be getting a Sparcstation at my request, but I am far from a UNIX or TeX expert.
