With inetd.conf in this state, inetd dies very quickly. Further experimentation reveals that a blank line anywhere in the file causes this behaviour. I've tested this under Ultrix 3.1D (Rev. 54) and ULTRIX V4.0 (Rev. 179), both running on a DECSystem 5400. Both flavours exhibit the described behaviour. I've also tested this out on 4.3 BSD and SunOS 4.1, both of which are tolerant of blank lines. Is this a known problem? Brian.
