The rumored effect involves significant data loss. I would like to know whether this bug still exists, and how to identify/avoid a potentially dangerous configuration. If the bug has been fixed, please indicate which revisions/dates of the involved programs are safe. I did not find this question addressed in the faq list. Perhaps it would be valuable to include it.
