Sorry to bring up a subject I hear was discussed long and
then buried, but:

I'm using the r3 text widget for the first time, and while
I seem to be able to write text into it (string text, that
is - not files) I cannot read the text from it. Are there
any patches around, or, better yet, some sort of quick
and dirty kludge?
