The mags say the Classe DR-8s or 9s are the way to go, above all else. But I don't know if they have tried them with tubes, like VTL or Music Reference, or ... The Classe is reputed to be the solid state amp that most closely gets to the good parts of the tube sound. I am getting a Classe and a Music Ref.
