"SAUDIS BAN ALL FEMALE DRIVERS Reuter in Nicosia. Saudi Arabia confirmed yesterday that all women were banned from driving and of fenders risked punishment. The interior ministry made the announcement a week after 49 women shocked the ultra conservative kingdom by an organised defiance of the ban. The ministry said that women drivers contradicted 'Islamic conduct which is enj oyed by the proud saudi citizen over female members of his family'. Women who took part in the demonsration had learned to drive abroad. They said they were inspired by the Kuwaiti women refugees driving across the border. " Of course its too much to ask that the Saudis remember the saying of the Bessed Prophet (Peace be on him), that the BEST women to marry are the ones who can ride a camel [read 'drive a car' in todays times!]. Until they drop this cultural dross that covers their implementation of islam they are heading.. you-know-where ! Fazal.
