Keywords: AMD LANCE Ethernet Bugs Message-ID: <1178@wcc.oz> Date: 23 Nov 90 02:37:18 GMT Organization: Webster Computer, Melbourne, Australia Lines: 16 I need to write some code that will detect and warn of old versions of the AMD AM7990 LANCE chip, particularly very old (1984) Rev A and Rev B versions. Does anyone have any code examples that can do this, or knows of any chip differences that can be detected from software? We've found that AppleTalk Phase 2 won't run on Rev A and B chips - a problem to do with Multicast address recognition. Loopback testing doesn't seem to show it however (dammit!). Please mail responses (as well/instead of posting - your choice). Thanks. ======================== Tom Evans tom@wcc.oz.au Webster Computer Corp P/L, 1270 Ferntree Gully Rd Scoresby, Melbourne 3179 Victoria, Australia 61-3-764-1100 FAX ...764-1179
