My feeling is that whole process is silly. They need to just get it done. At this point it is particularly dumb since ISO has adopted a Fortran 90 standard (the ANSI one will be a second standard for the US and that is something we can ill afford in the US, particularly since software patents and other legal hurdles are already threatening the vitality of the US computer industry).
