I don't know anything about the vote on the CNN ruling other than
the count (7-2). My guess is that one of the dissenters was Marshall;
the other may have been Blackmun.


In the Pentagon Papers case, the breakdown was

Black
Douglas
Brennan
Marshall
White
Stewart

for the Times, with 

Burger
Blackmun
Harlan

dissenting.
