[more deleted] >Cheng Yang I can't help with the technical question, but my experience has been precisely the opposite -- I have 2 MB RAM on my 286 that is configured as extended memory, and is just about worthless as such. I have been trying for months to find some way to convert this extended memory to expanded memory, so that programs such as Lotus and WordPerfect can use the expanded memory. All of the simulators I have downloaded and tried take up too much of the base 640K -- some of my programs require a minimum of 512K free to run. Unless you have some programs that require EXTENDED memory rather than EXPANDED, I wouldn't try to convert -- expanded memory is much more useful, IMO.
