It's my understanding that as of today, >NONE of the pre II mac's will EVER be able to run System 7.0. This is a dangerous untruth. The only feature of System 7 that pre-II Macs will not be able to run is virtual memory. It's a relatively minor innovation in System 7 as far as the average user is concerned. System 7 offers tons of impressive new functionality: interapplication communication (AppleEvents, Edition Manager, and eventually AppleScript), TrueType font technology, a rewritten Finder with Help Manager, asynchronous sound, true color reproduction, DA/app menu launching, font/DA/cdev/rdev installation by simple dragging, a sturdier multitasking environment, and much, much more.
