My CD ROM drive (Apple) is suddenly refusing to mount disks ("This disk is unreadable...."). I have replaced the four pieces of CD ROM software in the System Folder (Apple CD ROM, CD Remote INIT, Foreign File Access, High Sierra File Access), but to no avail, and the drive behaves the same way on two machines I have (Plus and II; though I have essentially the same software on each). Is there anything I can try to do to fix it before taking the drive for an expensive repair? (I know how to take the top off, and how to remove the logic board on top of the drive so as to get at the drive...) Any help and advice much appreciated.
