(unlike 4D, which comes with its own environment). If you choose to do so, I think you will be very pleased - I have not seen anything as easy and robust as InsideOut on the Mac or PC (dbVista is rumored to be losing its support in the Mac market, c-tree is ok, but needs more work; b-tree manager (or whatever it is called) I haven't seen, but I assume it is low-level like c-tree.) The multi-user capabilities are great. Data integrety functions are available (but no transaction logging or rollback). Speed is pretty good (we average about 1sec. per write on a MacII class machine - 250 byte record with a couple 10K handles and about 6 keys) and millisecond read times (the times degrade somewhat with more than about 5 users in our application - but it has not been a big concern). Tech support is great! Sierra is committed to upgrades. Give them a call at 800-621-0631 and I'm sure they'd be willing to discuss any concerns you might have. Greg. [I have no connection with Shana or Sierra Software Innovations. I'm just a happy customer who is about to ship a product next week... hopefully (cross your fingers and say a prayer facing Cupertino :-) ] -- uucp: ...{spsd,zardoz,felix}!dhw68k!finnegan InterNet: finnegan@dhw68k.cts.com --------------------------------------------
