I understand Sun Microsystems has introduced "VX" and "MVX" cards, based
on Intel's i860.  I would like to know if these are add-ons for improved
visualization performance or can also be used for gen-purpose floating
point/vector processing; and if it comes with development tools such as
vectorizing compilers ,libraries etc.

Any response/info would be appreciated,
