Message-ID: <1130@cnw01.storesys.coles.oz.au> Date: 17 Nov 90 03:28:07 GMT Followup-To: poster Organization: Coles Myer Ltd., Melbourne, Australia Lines: 30 Some folks around here have been looking at different UNIX boxes and one of them is a DEC 5100 running ULTRIX (I assume the latest version, 4.1 ?). Some of the other contenders are offering SYS V.4 and AIX. How does ULTRIX compare to SYS V.4 and AIX ? Being from a SYS V world previously I have a preference for SYS V.4, feeling that ULTRIX is not *real* UNIX. This is probably unfair and founded on ignorance on my part of ULTRIX. So, straighten me out, is ULTRIX a *real* UNIX or confirm my fears that it is behind the pace of V.4 and even AIX. If you do have some reservations about ULTRIX, as a product and in comparison to V.4 and AIX please be specific so that I can put together a resonable summary to work further on. As this topic has a large religious component *please* respond to me via E-Mail, I'll post a summary if warranted.
