I just managed to install windows on my 286 and I am having some weird problems

1) periodically(about twice a line for some lines)the computer beeps for no
   apparent reason.
2) the top of my screen is cut off when I use vi on a dialup system, I think
   everything is setup correctly, do I have to get a separate termcap entry??

please help, these beeps are driving me batty.  Also, sorry if this is the wrong
newsgroup, as I said I just got it and I have no idea where to post to.  Any
help is appreciated!!
