Message-ID: <33212@netnews.upenn.edu> Date: 20 Nov 90 18:07:48 GMT Sender: news@netnews.upenn.edu Organization: A Private Heaven Lines: 27 Originator: lau@kings I am trying to write an application using Motif. I have been trying to figure out how things work from the OSF/Motif books. I have also looked at the sample UIL files and c programs, e.g. hellomotif, motifburger and periodic that came with the software. However, there doesn't seem to be enough there for a beginner like me. So, this is an open request for help. Do you have any sample programs that might illustrate how things are done? For example, bringing up a popup with different widgets, getting the input, etc. Nothing is too simple. I have scoured the bookstores for good books. Most of them deal with raw X programming. Some of them deal with toolkits. However, I haven't found one extensively about programming with Motif UIL. Perhaps it's too easy but I don't find it so. Suggestions on books also appreciated. I have a book by Brian J. Keller and another by Douglas A. Young in addition to the OSF/Motif series. We have DEC's implementation of Motif 1.0 running on DECstations. Thanks for any help you can offer. Yan. -- )~ Yan K.
