This was during the '50's, I believe. A side note is that this was the carrier the A-3 Skywarrior was theoretically going to fly from. Ed Heinemann wisely decided that the first supercarrier was a dandy target for peacetime budget cuts, and he'd better build his bird so it could fly from smaller carriers if he wanted to be sure of a production contract.
