Real narrow topic. :-)

General data. The Tomahawk (*CM-109) competed with the ACM-86A for the USAFs
Air launched cruise missile. It lost. But it was adopted by the Navy and 
Army. It currently exists in Ground, Air, Sea(Surface), and Sea(Submarine)
launched versions. It has a cylindrical body about 21 inches in diameter.
It's wings deploy from the midbody and its intake extends ventrally. It is
capable of carrying a conventional or a nuclear warhead. And development
work was done on a submunitions dispensing variant. It is propelled by a
miniture turbofan (Willams or Garrett I believe) and it is boosted by a
solid rocket in the Sea and Ground launched variants. The Tomahawk was
the GLCM that was based in Europe and caused such a fuss. The Improved 
Los Angeles class nuclear submarines have 15 vertical launch tubes for
the missile, while older boats use the torpedo tubes. The battle ships
all carry Tomahawk, and I believe some of the smaller ships do too.

This is all from memory, I have a good book on the subject, but it is in NY.
