Information on DOS async. I/O libraries needed

Can anyone recomend (from experience only please)
the SilverComm C Async Library,
Blaise Computing's C Async Manager 3.0 / Asynch Plus 5.0, or any
other DOS asynchronous I/O library?

I need to support non-standard protocol communications for an RBase 5000
(RBase System 5) database project. Standard Hayes modem support is required.
I would like to port code from a Xenix implementation, so similarity
to *nix i/o lib would be desirable.
The system will be compiled under Microshaft C 5.1.
