The parameter to indiciate compression of body parts will be an object identifer. I do not know if any registry will be set up for registering compression algorithms and their associated object identifiers. Does FTAM have this facility? I am asking because the forthcoming 1992 version of X.400 will define file transfer in P22 body parts in a way which is intended to be compatible with FTAM.
