I realize how tough it can be to scan code that doesn't belong to you. But you brought up a good question. Would it be right to pay for the time and effort of those who post articles to the USENET system? One might think that it would be a good idea, others, no. I think it would be a good idea to pay for the sources on the network that I can use. A few dollars which can act as some recompense for the work that is done in these newsgroups. It is not their profession to moderate a newsgroup, nor do they even have to do it in their spare time. Rich is the perfect example. I'm sure he spends a lot of time working on these programs, and gets relatively nothing for it, except an occasional "Thank you" or "I appreciate it" (And we do appreciate it, Rich.). But in the long run, there is no standing value for what he does, except for personal satisfaction.
