It stores its extra information in what would look like a 4bit high-res (640x400+) image. Since its images cover the whole screen, and you're supposed to be able to animate with its images in DPaint, this would suggest a screen resolution of 704 x 480 pixels. It displays 22bits of information (4.2M) out of a 24bit pallette. But since you have a maximum of about 338,000 possible colors if every single pixel was different from every other, there's no difference in quality. I called Digital yesterday, and they said shipment to distributors the first week of December.
