I originally wrote the paper and mailed the second version to Sculley. He forwarded it to Birss, who wrote me a nice letter back that said essentially nothing (sources tell me he read it thoroughly before passing it on). The //f paper's primary purpose was to attempt to convince Apple that they could do it. So now Apple's working with ARM to make a new generation of notebook machines.
