We're going to be running FORTRAN code on it and will have a Weitek 4167 chip in it. I've ordered the Greenhill FORTRAN compiler from Oasys and I understand it only supports 1167 code. I don't know the difference between the two. I've never used a Weitek before. Is the 1167 a subset of the 4167? Will a 4167 running 1167 code be faster than the 486? By how much? We use a mix of floating point (usually single precision) and trig functions. Any input would be greatly appreciated. -- Marshall L.
